Priyanka Chopra born on 18 July 1982, is an Indian actess and former Miss World. Priyanka Chopra was born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri, both are physicians by profession. Chopra spent her childhood in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, Newton, Massachusetts and Cedar Rapids, lowa. Her father was in the army service and therefore her family quite oftenly moved from one place to another. Priyanka Chopr's father hailed from a Punjabi family, settled in Bareilly and her mother comes from a family settled in Jamshedpur. She also has a younger brother named Sidharth, who is seven years younger than she is.
Priyanka Chopra started her acting career as a model and gained fame after winning the Miss World title in 2000. Priyanka Chopra is often referred to by the nickname Piggy Chops which was given to her by the co-stars on the set of the movie Bluffmaster.
Priyanka Chopra studied at La Martiniere Girl’s School in Lucknow as a young girl. She subsequently re-located to US where she studied in Newton South High School in Newton, Massachusetts and then in John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, lowa. Priyanka Chopra later returned to India and finished her high school at Army School in Bareilly. Priyanka later joined Jai Hind College in Mumbai, but left college soon after she won the Miss World title in 2000.
Priyanka Chopra made her acting debut with the 2002 Tamil movie Thamizhan. The following year, she made her Bollywood film debut The Hero, followed by Andaaz, for which she won a Filmfare Best Female Debut Award. In 2004, she became the second woman to win the Filmfare Best Villain Award, which she received for her performance in the movie Aitraaz. Priyanka Chopra was also blessed with commercial successes namely Mujhse Shaadi Karoge, Krrish and Don. Later in the year 2008, Priyanka received a National Film Award for Best Actress, as well as Fimfare Award for Best Actress for her potrayal of a model in the movie Fashion and thus has established herself as one of the leading contemporary actresses in Bollywood.
Priyanka Chopra is also a trained western classical singer. In August 2011, she signed a worldwide recording agreement with Universal Music and Desi Hits through Inters cope Records and other international markets in UK’s Island Records. The album, which will be produced by Universal Music Group and desi hits will contain ten pop songs and will release worldwide, in 2012. Priyanka Chopra is currently recording and writing the album in English.
Priyanka Chopra became a television host with the Color’s reality show- Fear Factor level 3. In the year 2004, she also participated in a concert tour titled Temptations 2004 along with other film actors. On December 12, 2009, she was also present as one of the judge for the Miss World 2009 competition, held in South Africa. Later in the year 2010, she was also appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
Priyanka Chopra still continues to do some modeling work, such as appearing for fashion designer Ritu Kumar’s collection at HDIL India Couture Week. She has a number of endorsements and is one of the top paid Bollywood actresses in this respect. Priyanka Chopra has represented brands such as Lux, Ponds, Sunsilk, Hero Honda, Nokia, Tag Heur, J. Hampsted and Virgin Comic.
In the year 2006, the UK magazine Eastern Eye ranked her first on their list of Asia’s Sexiest Woman, and an eBay online poll crowned her the Style Diva of the year.
